ï NO SCHOOL – Yom Kippur
Tuesday we experienced the most horrific event in our lives. It will be a long time before we understand what occurred. As the tragedy was unfolding, I took comfort in the collective resolve of our staff, parents, and community volunteers. The outpouring of support, guidance, and willingness to help in anyway was a source of comfort and security for students. The collaborative efforts of parents and staff once again demonstrated - We Are a Community of Caring. Thank You.
As we continue to work with each other, I'm sure we will be able to help students continue to find comfort and reassurance about their safety and be able to maintain focus on learning. Please let us know of any concerns that may be impacting your child.
It is with sadness I share this news. A family scheduled to enroll at NCC in November was one of the victims on the flight from Dulles. Zoe Falkenberg, a fourth grader, along with her parents, Leslie Whittington and Charles Falkenberg and her three-year old sister Dana were on their way to Australia. They were scheduled to be there until November. Zoe attended our Open House in August, met many teachers and had already planned an email project with the fourth grade team. Our deepest sympathies, prayers, and gentle thoughts go out to their families and the many other families touched by this tragedy during this most trying time.
Back To School Night - Thursday, September 20, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. We invite all families to our annual program that is scheduled to provide a time for teachers to share important information about the classes, materials, resources, policies, types of assignments, expectations, etc. More importantly, it is time for us to meet the most important people in our student's lives - YOU, the parents.
WALK FAR FOR NARR: So far we have 14 registered NCC Walkers for the walk-a-thon. It is sure to be a very special day for all involved. The registration deadline has been extended until September 21, 2001. It is not too late to sign up. On the day of the walk all NCC Walkers should wear an NCC t-shirt. Any vintage is fine. Contact Ms. Taylor or Mr. Ehlman with questions.
